The Final Four is set for the 74th Salem Invitational Tournament, and the impending weather forecast has changed the schedule as well.

 

Last night, TTown overcame a 13 points first quarter deficit and trailed by 10 after the opening quarter, but would outscore Carbondale 58-39 in the final three quarters to pull off the 65-56 victory.  Landyn Thoele scored all 16 of his points after the opening quarter, Gavin Addis added 14 and Joey Probst added 11.  Jaxon Marlow-Evans led Carbondale with 16, he needed 14 to reach 1000 career points and did that in the fourth quarter.

 

Mt Vernon won the nightcap over tournament newcomer Gateway Legacy Christian 86-33.  The Rams ran out to a 29-6 lead after the opening quarter and 50-10 at the half.  Cale Maurer led Mt Vernon with 16, David Barnes added 10 as 10 Rams scored in the game.

 

The tournament schedule today will be first the consolation semifinals starting at 4pm with Gateway Legacy and Carbondale followed by Salem and Champaign Central at 5:30.  Then the semifinals will begin with Centralia and Mattoon at 7 followed by TTown and Mt Vernon at 8:30.

 

The tournament will conclude on Saturday with the consolation finals at 9am, the 3rd place game will be at 10:30 and the 74th Championship game will be held tomorrow at noon.
