The Centralia Orphans improved to 19-1 on the season with a 59-49 win over Collinsville at Fletcher Gym. The Kahoks got within 3 early in the 2nd half and were down 6 with 2 minutes to play. Michael Organ hit 4 threes and had 18 for the Orphans. Jaxson Hancock added 12 and Devin Meier and Archie Goewey had 10. Jace Wilkinson led the 7-13 Kahoks with 18. The Orphans will open the SIT on Wednesday night against Champaign Central in the first of two games on opening night with Salem and Mattoon to play Game 2.
Mt Vernon fell to Belleville West at the Althoff Shootout on Saturday 56-26. Dave Barnes was the only Ram in double figures with 12. The Rams are 15-3 and will open up the SIT on Thursday in the second game of the night against Gateway Legacy following Teutopolis and Carbondale.
Nathanial Marlow scored 27 points giving up 2738 in his career as Webber beat Red Hill 85-58.
