Salem Bowlers Have Good Showing At Carterville on Saturday

The Salem boys and girls bowlers competed at Carterville on Saturday.  The Salem Wildcats played the first 3 team games and were 4^th overall heading into the bracket team finals.  Salem lost to eventual champ Mascoutah in the opening round 379-358.

Mt Vernon qualified 2^nd and won their first bracket match over Collinsville 501-314 before losing to Carterville in the semifinals 401-389.

Centralia was 13^th after the team round and Christ Our Rock was 14^th.  Neither advanced to bracket play.

Individually, Salem’s Dylan Kuhns had the high game of the tournament with a 289 as he finished tied for 11^th.  Teammate Carter Shanafelt was tied for 5^th with games of 245, 196 and 257.  Nicholi Marhanka was 26^th, Kai Graham 34^th and Jaxon Ward tied for 38^th.

The Lady Wildcats qualified 7^th heading to bracket play.  They lost to Belleville East in the opening bracket round 363-292.  Collinsville was the team champion.  Mt Vernon was 4^th seed and won their opening match over O’Fallon 366-286 before losing to Mascoutah in the semifinals 398-307.

Centralia finished 16^th and did not play in bracket play.

Brooklyn Hamilton led Salem with a 571 series and was 9^th overall.  Kennedi Simmons shot 496 and was 23^rd but had the 5^th highest individual game score with her 235.  Mackenzie Hurd was 37^th, Tatyiana Maines-Sosa 61^st, Lilah Barrow 65^th and Lilli Kincade 85^th.
