Day 1 of the 82nd Centralia Holiday Tournament is in the books.  The Orphans dominated their opening round game with Sumner 79-26.  Archie Goewey had 24 to lead Centralia, Jaxson Hancock added 14 with 11 each from Kenny Bratton and Devin Meier.  The Orphans advance to today’s quarterfinals at 7:45 against Chicago King who won the late night game over Miami Southridge 51-38.

Also in first round games, Belleville West’s Ty Cason hit a 3 at the buzzer to send the Maroons to a 54-51 win over Wekiva, Florida.  MHEA beat Miller Academy 52-48, Evanston over Dyett 74-15, Marist beat Champaign Central 77-27, Alton over Julian 69-39, Harding Academy knocked off Cahokia 68-39.

Day 2 opens at 9am with Miller taking on Dyett then Central and Wkiva at 10:30, MHEA and Evanston play at 12:45, Marist and West at 2:15, Julian takes on Cahokia at 3:45, Alton Harding at 6:15, Centralia and King at 7:45 and the late game is Sumner and Miami Southridge.
