The Salem Wildcats trailed 11-7 after the opening quarter but used a 16-0 second quarter run to help them to a 52-38 road win at Freeburg.  Avery Gullion once again led Salem with 14, Payton Gullion added 13 points and another 4 blocked shots.  It’s the 3rd game this season he has had 4 blocked shots.  Ryegan Warren added 12 points, 10 in the first half, and included a big 4th quarter dunk helping Salem pull away.  Kaeden Bevolo pulled down 7 rebounds to lead Salem.  Luke Boldt came off the bench to score 8.  Salem is 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the Cahokia as they head to Wood River today.

Today is Mega Day at Wood River.  The day begins at 11:30 with the varsity girls game that you can hear on WJBD.  There will be NO jv girls game.  The JV boys will play at 1 followed then on WJBD by the varsity boys game at 2:30.

Columbia remained unbeaten in Cahokia play with their win at home over Breese Central 52-44 and are now 6-2 overall this season.


Orphans Get Career High From Goewey, Run Record To 10-0

Archie Goewey hit 8 three pointers as he scored a career high 26 as Centralia beat Cahokia at Trout Arena 75-55 to improve to 10-0 on the season and 2-0 in the South Seven.  Not to be outdone, Cahokia’s C’Narri Griffin also made 8 threes and finished with 39 points, the most by a visiting player at the current Trout Gym since the 2012 CHT when the late Tyrin Williams scored 42 for Riverview Gardens.  Jaxson Hancock added 19 and Mike Organ 14.  Centralia will head to undefeated Marion on Tuesday for a conference showdown before Christmas.  Marion will play Harrisburg today after beating Carbondale last night 64-49.


Other Notable Games:

Trailing by 9 points, top-ranked Woodlawn went on a 13-0 run and then held off 4th ranked Waltonville at the end 48-43.  Kyle Cooper finished with 22 points for Woodlawn in the win.

Wesclin improved to 8-2 overall with a 49-35 win over Carlyle.  Gavin Rahm led Wesclin with 26 going 14-of-17 from the foul line.  Eli Wellen added 10.  Ethan Brinkmann had 10 points for Carlyle.

Mt Vernon got 22 from Dave Barnes and 18 from Lucas Shelby in a 62-53 win over O’Fallon.  The Rams improve to 5-1 and will host Collinsville Monday.  Cale Maurer added 13 for the Rams.


St Anthony Wins At Dieterich in 2OT

Keenan Griffith hit a huge 3 pointer and St Anthony knocked off Dieterich on the road in double overtime 67-60.  Griffith finished with 23, Miles Waldhoff 13 and Aiden Lauritzen 11 in the win.  Brock Niemerg and Jackson Icenogle had 15 in the loss, Ezra Cook added 14 and Bryce Bonhoff 11.

Christ Our Rock plays today at home against Nokomis.
