A 49-year-old Ashley man faces multiple charges after he was allegedly found in possession of drugs and a weapon after backing into a pole at the Casey’s General Store in Wamac.

Melvin Creps was taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged aggravated DUI, armed violence, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of 40 grams of cocaine, possession of 100 narcotic pills without a prescription, possession of a firearm by a felon, and aggravated unlawful use of a firearm.

Wamac Police say Melvin Creps reportedly had dozed off at the wheel when the car hit the pole.  After he was arrested on the aggravated DUI charge, the drugs and gun were allegedly found in the vehicle.

The incident occurred at 4:15 Saturday morning.
