The Salem Recreation Department will host a Christmas Carnival and Christmas on Broadway this Friday and Saturday.

Recreation Director Jed Casburn says the Christmas Carnival will be held at the Salem Community Center from six to eight Friday night.

“We’re so lucky to have our community and our businesses help us with this event,” Casburn said. “It’s carnival style, and everybody will have a different game. Families will get to come in and have a free meal, play games, crafts, face painting, and just have a good time.”

Activities move to Sweney Corner at Main and Broadway for the Saturday events.

“We’ll have a movie starting at 1:15 in the afternoon. We’ll have food trucks, s’more station and hot chocolate, we’ll have a few booths. We’ll have Mrs. Claus at the historical museum, and we’re hoping that Santa Claus arrives at 3:00 pm, and that’s when our main events will really start; main events will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Each kid will be able to pick a toy after their visit with Santa.  The Salem Community High School Choir will conclude the program on Saturday with the singing of Christmas Carols around the Christmas Tree.
