A 41-year-old former Worship Minister at the Calumet Street Christian Church serving four years’ probation on five counts of child pornography is now facing a petition to revoke his probation.

Ian Mophet is accused in the petition of violating probation for using the internet to connect to two dating sites and creating his own YouTube channel.   The petition also cites his failure to appear in court for an October pay or appear hearing for not paying court costs as ordered.  While the prosecution didn’t seek to detain Mophet, the Judge agreed to new restrictions that require Mophet to be on home confinement with GPS Monitoring.  State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth says Mophet will be allowed to return to his Georgia home.

He was arrested in Georgia on the warrant to revoke probation and transported back to Marion County for Wednesday’s court hearing.  Mophet says he will try and obtain his own attorney.  His next court hearing for a first appearance with an attorney is December 18th.

Mophet had entered the plea agreement on the five child pornography charges in May.  He was first arrested in October 2023 following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that picked up child pornography activity in the Centralia area.  He was terminated at the church after they reviewed the initial evidence with State Police.
