A 33-year-old Sandoval man was taken into custody at the Marion County Courthouse on Wednesday after being sentenced to 60 days in court for direct criminal contempt of court. William Eagan of Jefferson Street received the sentence after allegedly being disrespectful in the courtroom. He was in court on a misdemeanor case at the time.
24-year-old Matthew Polk of Belleville was arrested in Jefferson County on a Marion County no-bond failure to appear warrant in a pending felony case. He was later transferred to the Marion County Jail.
27-year-old Oslo White, of Saddler Street in Centralia, was arrested on a no-bond felony failure-to-appear warrant in a felony case. Centralia Police transferred him to the Marion County Jail.
The Salem Fire Protection District was called out to the Salem Post Office around five on Wednesday afternoon to a report of smoke in the building. The problem turned out to be a malfunctioning exhaust fan on the workroom furnace. The unit was turned off until repairs could be made.
