State Police report two accidents involving semi trucks and cars in the construction zone on northbound I-57 south of Mt. Vernon, Wednesday night.
The first crash occurred at milepost 88 when a semi hit the rear of the car, causing it to run off the road. Three occupants of the car were treated at the scene, with one later transferred to a local hospital. The name of the person injured and the drivers of the vehicles is not available from the State Police. They reported there were no lane closures due to the crash reported at 8:04 Wednesday night.
The second crash occurred about an hour later at milepost 84 south of Mt. Vernon. State Police say this crash also involved a car and a semi. No injuries were reported. The northbound lanes were closed for about an hour and a half and reopened at 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday. No other details are currently available about that crash.
