The offense found their groove early, and the Salem Lady Wildcats ran away with their 2nd win from the DuQuoin Tournament 66-24 over Webber Township. Jordan Kessler scored 12 points in the opening quarter on her way to 28 to lead Salem. Katee Sellers added 8 as Salem had 9 of their 11 rostered players score. Edyn Knight, 6-1 sophomore, led Webber with 12. Salem will finish pool play on Friday night at 7:30 against the host Lady Indians. Both teams are 2-0 so the winner will advance to Saturday’s championship.
In the other pool at Pinckneyville beat Sesser Valier 50-36 and Woodlawn over Cairo 79-24.
Also last night in girls basketball, Carlyle beat Marquette 64-46 at the Columbia Tournament and will play in the consolation championship.
Gibault beat Dupo 36-17, Marion over Althoff 75-38, O’Fallon 54-42 over Mater Dei.
Tonight the Sandoval Lady Blackhawks are at St Anthony. South Central will host North Clay.
