The young Salem Wildcat bowlers have some big shoes to fill, but judging by their performance on the big stage, this will once again be a very competitive and fun crew to watch as they are mostly freshmen and sophomores.
They finished 4th at the Herrin Invitational tying for 3rd with Mt Vernon but losing in a tiebreaker. There were several reasons for Salem fans to be excited.
Carter Shanafelt had a high game of 244 as he led Salem with a 1208 good for 11th place. Nicholi Marhanka shot 1200 and was 13 with a high game of 252. Jaxon Ward shot a high game of 244 on his way to 1183 for 19th place and Dylan Kuhns was just out of the top 20 taking 21st with his 1167 and 232 high game.
Defending state champion Harrisburg was dominant winning the team title while also taking 1st and 2nd overall with Dalton Wheeler and James Cranmore taking the honors.
