Both the driver and passenger on a motorcycle involved in a late Thursday night high speed chase in Central City and Centralia were flown to St. Louis hospital after the cycle crashed.
The names of the two have not yet been released.
Initial information indicates Centralia Police had an earlier chase that was terminated to high speeds. When Central City Police later located the motorcycle and tried to stop it, the cycle sped away on a chase that went across the east side of town ending on Osage Drive near Frazier.
The passenger was taken directly to the SSM Health St. Mary’s Helipad and transferred to St. Louis University Hospital.
The driver initially refused treatment but later changed his mind and was also transferred from St. Mary’s Hospital to a St. Louis Hospital.
The driver has been ticketed for aggravated fleeing and eluding police along with aggravated DUI.
The Centralia City Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance were called to assist the victims.
We’ll have additional details when they are released.
