Mark Allen Doudera of Salem, Illinois, was reunited with his Lord and loved ones in Heaven on July 22, 2026.
Born on July 26, 1957, and raised in Salem, he was the second son of Raymond and Mary (Jett) Doudera. Growing up on the family farm with his brothers, Tony and Ronnie, and surrounded by countless cousins, Mark developed a deep love for family and the outdoors. As the middle brother, he was known for his mischievous spirit and was often considered the rowdiest of the three. As a young man, Mark was active in 4-H, where he enjoyed showing livestock. Those early years on the farm remained some of his favorite memories throughout his life.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Mark spent most of his career at Fabick before finishing his working years in the pipeline industry.
A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Mark was also active in many community organizations including the Mt Vernon Sportsman’s Club, Salem Country Club, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, the Masons, the Shriners, and the Bears.
Mark had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, horses, and training bird dogs, while spending many years participating in field trials. Camping and boating on Rend Lake were among his favorite pastimes, and later in life he could often be found riding around the farm on his side-by-side or showing up with another piece of equipment that somehow became his nephew’s next project.
He had a larger-than-life personality and a gift for making friends wherever he went. Whether he was telling stories or giving someone a hard time, Mark was often the life of the party. He never turned down a good meal, especially if dessert was included, and no Sunday felt complete without dinner at his mom’s table, usually followed by a nap while watching an old John Wayne western.
More than anything, Mark loved his family. He remained incredibly close with his brothers, and although he never had children of his own, he was a proud uncle to Crystal and Andy, treating them as if they were his own. He also found great joy in watching his great-niece and great-nephew grow.
Mark will be remembered as a loving son, an incredible brother, a loyal friend, and the kind of uncle who made life a little more fun.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mary Doudera, and his younger brother, Ronald Doudera.
He is survived by his brother, Tony (Vicky Rose) Doudera of Salem; his niece, Crystal (Andrew) Reznack of Edwardsville; his nephew, Andy (Sarah) Doudera of Salem; his great-niece, Ainsley Reznack of Edwardsville; his great-nephew, Tristan Doudera of Salem; his dog and faithful companion, Snub; special friend Mindy Williams of Pekin, and many beloved cousins and lifelong friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church and can be received at the funeral home.
