Alice Matilda Kreher, 98, of Greenville, IL and formerly of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:30 am June 24, 2026 at Greenville Nursing Rehabilitation in Greenville, Illinois. She was born March 25, 1928 in Belle Prairie, IL to Rudolph R. and Emma (Keifer) Rubenacker. Alice married John E. Kreher on September 5, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 5, 2003.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Sharon O’Boyle and husband Michael of Greenville, Illinois; grandsons, John P O’Boyle and James M. O’Boyle and wife Erin; great grandchildren, Grace O’Boyle and Colin O’Boyle; sister, Virginia Rubenacker of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Bernice Dolan and Richard Rubenacker.
Alice was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for over 50 years and was an Auxiliary member.
A Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 9 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the church. Monsignor David Darin will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Piopolis, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Alice’s honor to Vitas Health Care or Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation and will be accepted at the funeral home or church.
