Howard M. Redpath, 89, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 7:10 pm June 21, 2026 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born December 29, 1936 in Sparta, Illinois to the late Riley and Florence (Williamson) Redpath. Howard married Sondra (Hall) Redpath on January 24, 1958.
In addition to his beloved wife, Howard is survived by his daughters, Pam Stickney and husband, Mike and Diane Johnson and significant other, Mark Fosnock; grandchildren, Ryan Schutte and wife, Leslie, Seth Schutte and wife, Colleen, Kyle Schutte and wife, Kylie, Riley Mullins, Casey Wegmann and husband, Joe, Bryson Redpath, and Josee Redpath; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Leyhe, Desmond Leyhe, Uli Schutte, Kade Schutte, Micah Schutte, Cora Schutte, Cooper Schutte, Crew Schutte, Jacelyn Wegmann, Eli Wegmann, Brinley Redpath, and Everleigh Redpath; and nephews, Kurt Rice and wife, Amy and Kraig Rice and wife, Tina.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his son, James Redpath; and sister, Mary Alice Rice and husband, Russell.
Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served as an Elder and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon and was a member of the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge. Howard worked for Illinois Power for 33 years. He was an amateur private pilot and enjoyed flying. Howard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Private Service will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
