North Wamac/Irvington/Grand Prairie is headed to the Class S state volleyball tournament next Saturday in Herrin after winning the Region 12 Tournament at Waltonville. First the Big Blue defeated Nashville TSJ 25-22, 27-25 in the semi-final. They then knocked off Waltonville who upset top-seed Rome in their semifinal. NWIGP won the match 25-17, 27-25. This is the first regional title for North Wamac since 2012 and only the 2nd in school history. They will play in Herrin at 10am next Saturday.
