The Salem Wildcats soccer team will play their biggest match of the program’s history this afternoon when they take on the defending Cahokia Conference champion Columbia Eagles to FCC Fields in Salem. Kickoff will be at 4:30.
The winner will have the inside track on the league title with just one match remaining for Salem, one against Wood River.
Salem has never won a conference title, or beaten the Eagles. Salem enters at 10-1 on the year while Columbia comes in at 9-3 overall with Cahokia games with Wood River and Roxana left.
The Eagles also finished 3rd in the state last year with a lot of key contributors back for another run.
