Today is the final day of the Colt 16u World Series held in Marion.
Yesterday, Marion opened their day with a 13-4 win over Youngstown, Ohio. Chase Niemeyer hit an inside the park home run, drove in 3 runs. That set them up with a game against Monterey Mexico in the semifinal. After falling down 6-0 to Mexico, Marion scored 5 times to cut the deficit to 7-5 in the fifth inning, but Mexico but Luis Guajardo hit a 2-run homer over the fence and pulled away 14-5 to advance to the championship series.
On the top side of the bracket, Tokyo, Japan opened the day with a 3-0 shutout win over Nicaragua. Japan then survived a back-and-forth, extra inning game over Czech Republic 11-10 in 8-innings.
So the day begins with Tokyo and Czech Republic playing with the winner advancing to the championship game at 7pm tonight against Mexico.
