Harrisburg’s Dalton Wheeler began bowling just 2 years ago, and in that time, the Harrisburg Bulldog has come a LONG way that culminated in a fantastic run at the recently completed Jr Gold Nationals in Detroit, Michigan.
Wheeler competed in the 15u Division along with 613 other competitors. The top 88 advanced to the First Advancers Round. Wheeler finished the 4 day qualification round shooting +236 in round 4 including a 289 game and a 967 4-game series. That would move him into the top 88 for the next round, as he was sitting in 14th place.
Wheeler followed that up shooting a 1059 five game series to finished 12th and move on to the Final Advancers round that included the top 58.
He would keep his 12th spot after the next 5-game block that saw him shoot 1067 and he would find himself in the final 16 match play round.
After losing the opening round to Dylan Beck by 11 pins, the fantastic run by Wheeler ended with a loss in the elimination bracket to Emmanuel Guevera.
Big things are ahead for the Harrisburg sophomore who saw his Bulldogs finished 2nd at the IHSA State Tournament this past season.
