Carterville’s Evan Flath and O’Fallon’s Connor Lunning were amazing over the past week competing with 1331 athletes in the U18 boys division at Jr Gold in the Detroit area.

Both advanced to the 2nd round of advancers in the top 64 in the entire division before their runs came to an end.

Flath averaged 209 for the entire tournament. He finished the qualification round at +208 and 15th overall. Lunning averaged 207 for the qualification and was +113 and finished 41st.

That moved them into the Advancers Round with 191 of the top bowlers. Flath shot an 1105 5-game series including high games of 236 and 228 to increase his run to +313 and in 8th place, easily into the next round.

Lunning was even better with his 1168 series including high games of 279 and 255 to increase his pin total to +281. He finished 18th.

In the 2nd round, they both shot well, but the scores were insane all around the alley as their runs ended. Flath shot a 945 series to finish 25th overall. Lunning shot a 953 series and was 30th overall.
