Governor JB Pritzker has announced that Illinois has reached $1 billion in cannabis retail sales for the year on July 1st.  That includes $850 million in adult use cannabis sales and almost $150 million in medical cannabis sales.  The milestone was reached nearly two weeks faster than in 2024.

For the just completed fiscal year that ended June 30th, total cannabis sales exceeded $2 billion. That’s up 100 million dollars from the last fiscal year and two-hundred million compared to two years ago.

The Governor says Illinois has the most equitable cannabis industry in the country and it is growing and thriving.  Tax revenue collected from cannabis sales has led to more than $244 million in grants for economic development, violence prevention and youth development in disproportionately impacted communities from the war on drugs.
