The Salem 10u Wildcats have won their way back to the Championship of the District 1 Tournament after eliminating the hosts at Mt Carmel last night 11-7.
It was a wild start to the game, as Salem opened in the top of the first inning with 6 runs, only to see Mt Carmel score 5 of their own in their first at bat. The Wildcats bats came to play out hitting Mt Carmel 19-4.
Grayson Purintun led the way going 4-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Lewis Eddy had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Logan Shuler also had 2 RBI. Salem also got RBI from Easton Keller, Easton Henson, Koelson Green and Kobe Silvey.
Bo Martinez was the starting pitcher going 3 innings allowing 2 hits and 5 runs, Shuler came in to work the final 3 innings of 2 hits and 2 run ball. Salem advances to the championship today at 2pm against Olney.
The Wildcats lost to the White Squirrels 7-4 on Thursday in the semifinal. Salem will need to win today and then tomorrow to win the title, a loss today and the tournament is over.
