The Salem 12u District Little League All Stars dropped their 2nd round game at Lawrenceville in the District 1 Tournament falling to Mt Carmel 7-5.
Salem got off to a solid start as Eli Purdy hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd to give Salem an early 2-0 lead. Mt Carmel bounced right back with a homer of their own and plated 4 runs in the top of the 4th to take the lead. Salem would tie the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth but Mt Carmel would get another homer and 3 more runs in the 5th to pull away.
Ben Lux worked the first 3 innings allowing no runs, no hits and 8 strikeouts. Dakota Gregg worked the next 1.1, Tanner Purintun and Emit Gibson also got work on the mound.
At the plate, Gibson had 2 hits, Purintun added a single and run. Salem drops to the loser’s bracket and are back in action today at 5:30 when they take on Olney in the first of 2 elimination games this evening. The winners advance to play in an elimination game tomorrow at 7:45.
