Centralia Police say an officer was placed in a headlock and thrown to the ground when attempting to arrest a 40-year-old homeless Centralia man following a fifth complaint of disorderly conduct.

Police say on the prior occasions Kyle Roe was ordered to leave the area after allegedly yelling and screaming.   On the fourth occasion early Sunday morning, one of the home owners in the 1300 block of South Maple signed a complaint for a trespass warning.  When Roe allegedly returned again, Police received permission from the State’s Attorney’s office to arrest him and bring him to the Marion County Jail.

The altercation with the officer occurred when he attempted to take Roe into custody.  The officer’s glasses were broken.   Roe was eventually taken into custody when he was pepper sprayed.

Under the SAFE-T act, those arrested for most crimes, including disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, are not allowed to brought to jail unless there are multiple incidents.
