The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to give final approval to the city budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1st and to approve rezoning for a 72 unit apartment complex.
Interim City Manager Annette Sola says the city’s budget is balanced and contains a number of public infrastructure and other improvement projects.
The council will be asked to approve the Planning Commission’s recommendation for a change in residential zones to allow for construction of a new 72-unit apartment complex. The planning commission is also recommending a special use permit to allow the Thirsty Heifer to operate a diner/restaurant including sit-down food and to go orders from the small strip shopping center in the 200 block of West Schwartz Street. The third request is for a minor subdivision. Dr. Van Acker wants to divide the two acre lot he purchased next to Little Egypt Golf cars into three lots. He plans to construct his dermatology clinic on one of them.
The council will also open bids on two surplus utility trucks from the Public Works Department.
The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
