Central City Police Chief Jamie Ramsey says a 22-year-old Pinckneyville woman awaiting trial on three counts of murder was one of three arrested during a traffic stop Tuesday night.

Sophia Kelly was a passenger in the car and was arrested on new counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition without a FOID card and unlawful use of weapons.  Kelly faces the murder charges in connection with the death of her three-month-old male infant in June of 2022.  She is due back in Perry County Court at Pinckneyville on May 1st for a jury pre-trial hearing.  A prosecution motion is pending that would dismiss all three murder charges against Kelly.  The infant’s father, Logan Hutchings, earlier was found NOT guilty of murder charges against him.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Jake Gillmore of East Violet in Mt. Vernon, was arrested for driving on a revoked license, possession of ammunition and a firearm by a felon, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

A second passenger, 23-year-old Robert Gott of North Rhodes in Centralia, was arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition without a FOID card, possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of a controlled substance.

All three were taken to the Marion County Jail where they are being held pending a first appearance in court.

Ramsey said all three were taken into custody without incident.  Two handguns and a needle with suspected fentanyl were allegedly recovered from the vehicle.  The traffic stop at North Elm and Charlotte Tuesday night was based on alleged improper lane usage and disobeying a stop sign.
