Salem man arrested for home invasion that sent another man to the hospital

A 37-year-old Salem man has been arrested for home invasion after allegedly entering another man’s home and hitting him with a foot long pipe.

Salem Police say Drew Niebert of the 300 block of East Olive was arrested allegedly breaking into a storm door of a home in the 300 block of South Lackey and striking 24-year-old Billy Combs of Salem with the pipe.  Combs was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Police said there had been text messages going back and forth between the two men earlier in the day.

Niebert reportedly enter the home at 4:27 Sunday afternoon.   He was taken into custody at his home at 11:30 Sunday night.
