The South Central School Board Wednesday night recognized the accomplishments of the 7th grade girls volleyball team that took fourth in state. Players, parents, and coaches were all invited to the meeting to celebrate.
In its regular meeting that followed, the board made its yearly donations to three athletic fields that they utilize for school sporting events. The Kinmundy Lions Field and Kinmundy Area Sports Complex will each receive $2,000 and the Farina Park $1,000.
The board approved the renewal of its membership in the Illinois High School Association. They also learned Cumberland would be joining the National Trail Conference in the 25-26 school year.
The board approved a field trip for the senior class to St. Louis and Fairview Heights for May 10th.
Voluntary student insurance will once again be made available through First Agency. AIG will be utilized to provide the district’s catastrophic student coverage in the event of a school related injury.
The board acted on several personnel matters.
- Madi Lockhart was hired as a certified employee for the 2024-205 school year.
- Shane Lother was named assistant track coach at South Central Middle School.
- Erin Engel was named South Central Middle School Volunteer Track Coach.
- Jeremy Chasteen was hired as Assistant High School Softball Coach.
- The resignation of Cassandra Leuking at the end of the school year was accepted
- The resignation of Nathaniel Jefferson effective March 20th was also presented.
