A fire burned through 20 acres of CRP land in rural Iuka Saturday afternoon.
The Kell Fire Department reports the fire was on the Dan Koerkenmeier property in the 6600 block of Oak Road in rural Iuka. The fire is believed to have been started when a four-wheeler drove through the south end of the property and caught some of the grass on fire.
A home, oil well, and tank battery were in danger, but the fire was brought under control without damage.
Kell Fire received mutual aid assistance on the scene from Iuka Fire, which brought a brush truck to the scene. Mt. Vernon City Firemen stood by at the Kell Fire Station in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 12:46 on Saturday afternoon. Firemen were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
