Centralia Police say a 14-year-old juvenile boy was shot once in the leg during a Tuesday night street argument at Gragg and McKee Streets.

The juvenile was transported via private vehicle to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Initial information indicates three people in the group may have had guns.  Police have recovered evidence of 13 shots being fired.  Three homes, one with people inside, and one parked vehicle were reportedly hit.

Police report the group was uncooperative with police in providing information and leads are still being followed to try and determine the three people believed to have had guns.   The crowd was described as a combination of adults and juveniles.

The initial calls to Centralia Police indicated there were two groups totaling ten to 12 people yelling and arguing in the street.  Before police arrived, the gunfire broke out.

Both the Marion and Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Central City Police, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene were all called for assistance.  The first calls about the gathering were received just before eight on Tuesday night.
