The USDA is reporting corn production in Marion County totaled 13,413,000 bushels in 2023 and soybean production at 5,468,000 bushels.
The average corn yield per acre was 157.8 bushels, down from 194.3 bushels last year. Marion County farmers planted 86,100 acres in corn and harvested 85,000.
The soybean harvest was 57.5 bushels per acre, up from 54.3 bushels last year. Marion County farmers planted 95,500 bushels of soybeans and harvested all but 400 acres that were planted.
Statewide, corn production was placed at just under 2.3 billion bushels and soybean production at 649 million bushels. The average yield per acre of corn was 206 bushels while the average soybean harvest was 63 bushels per acre.
