The Salem boys and girls track teams each opened their indoor seasons this week. The Lady Cats traveled to Marion on Thursday for the Joe Elliott Indoor. Finlay Puricelli had a good day finishing 5th in the 400 and was 8th in the high jump clearing 4-8. Eden Gallia was 9th in the 200m with Avery Robinson right behind her in 10th. Ella Smith tied for 8th in the shot throwing 29’3” with Hannah Smith 10th at 29’1.5”. Emily Runyon was 6th in the pole vault clearing 7 foot.

The boys opened yesterday at the Edwardsville Indoor hosted by Principia College. Hunter Malan was 2nd overall in the 3200. Freshman Payton Gullion was 12th out of 46 runners in the 400m in a time of 57.69. Alex Spencer finished 12th in the 800m out of 54 runners and Caidien Beer 14th in the 1600m.
Madden Thompson and Avery Gullion finished top 10 in the high jump with clears of 5-10. Caleb Smith won the shot put easily with a throw of 17.78m. Holden Richardson was 9th in the pole vault at 2.89m, Miking Ettress was 10th in the Long Jump at 5.69m, Connor Tennyson 4th in the triple jump at 12.17m.
