Last night was sectional semifinal night in girls prep basketball.
In 1a at Elkville, Edwards County beat Pope County 62-36 and Goreville over Marissa 46-25. At Central A&M, Salt Fork knocked off St Anthony 51-42 and Tuscola fell to Altamont 52-37. At Nokomis, Father McGivney advanced beating Bluffs 46-39 and Okawville over Carrollton 64-46.
In 2a at Nashville, the host Hornettes beat Massac County 57-47 and will get Breese Central in the finals after their win over Vienna 49-29. At Newton, Anna Probst had 21 to lead TTown over Maroa 56-48 and they will play Robinson who beat Paris 49-24.
In 3a, Effingham hit 14 three pointers on their way to their 75-59 win over Mount Vernon at Effingham. Bria Beals led the Hearts with 20 and 4 players finished in double figures. Kamaree Pollard had 20 for the Lady Rams and Melaina Zedalis added 17. Effingham will play Highland who got 14 from Jordan Bircher in their 42-26 win over Herrin.
In 4a, Alton advanced with their win over O’Fallon 51-41 and they will play Normal Community in the sectional finals after their 70-50 win over East Moline United.
