There were a few prep girls basketball regional championships held over the weekend.
The Nashville Hornettes won their 2a regional at Mater Dei beating the host Lady Knights 70-62 in 4-overtimes! They advance to their own 2a Sectional tomorrow taking on Massac County followed by Breese Central and Vienna. Also tomorrow in Sectional action at Newton, TTown takes on Maroa followed by Robinson and Paris.
In 3a regional finals Saturday, Highland won the Charleston 3a regional over Mattoon 43-34. Mount Vernon won the Waterloo regional, their 4th straight regional title, beating East St Louis 59-48. The Lady Rams advance to the Effingham Sectional tomorrow against the host Hearts following Highland and Herrin.
In 1a sectional semifinals tomorrow at Central A&M, Altamont will play Tuscola and Okawville takes on Carrollton at Nokomis.
In 4a tomorrow, O’Fallon and Alton play at Belleville West.
