The Salem Wildcats knocked off visiting Wood River 55-37 last night. Connor Tennyson led the way with 18 points, Gavin Zimmermann extended his single season record for 3’s made as he hit 4 more for 12 points to give him 89 made on the season. Sam Greene added 8.
The JV won 58-24 and will close out their regular season Tuesday night at home against Roxana as the program hosts their senior night.
Also in the Cahokia, Breese Central beat Freeburg 59-34, Columbia beat Roxana 52-39.
The SC Cougars won at home over Mulberry Grove 62-40 behind 23 points from freshman Westin Neilson.
Mount Vernon and Centralia entered their finales of the South 7 knowing that with a win they would tie for the title. The Centralia Orphans earned a win over Carbondale 58-35 and did their part. Mount Vernon played at Marion and lost 28-25. So the Orphans win the South 7 title outright. Centralia is back in action tonight at home against Taylorville.
