Police Beat for Saturday, February 10th, 2024

Salem Police arrested a 52-year-old former Centralia man for possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a revoked license following a Friday night traffic stop.  Sean Meredith, who now lists a Florissant, Missouri address, reportedly took the car he was driving from his sister without permission.   He was taken to the Marion County Jail.

A 48-year-old Centralia man, Gregory Lutz of East 3rd, was charged with misdemeanor battery following a Thursday night incident at McGuire’s.  Lutz and another man who has been released pending further investigation are accused of taunting two 16-year-old juveniles after the two were asked to leave the business after bringing a juvenile into the gaming area against the rules. Lutz was also released following his first appearance in court on the battery charge.

39-year-old Richard Burkett of South Maple in Centralia was arrested by Wamac Police on a Marion County failure to appear major traffic warrant.   He was taken to the Marion County Jail on the no bond warrant.

49-year-old Richard Winter of Addieville was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy on a failure to appear major traffic warrant and remains in custody on the no bond warrant.
