Centralia City Firemen say a fire in old furniture left behind the Fairview Shopping Center on Thursday evening is suspicious in nature.
The furniture had been dumped illegally and a call had been made to pick it up, but the fire broke out before it could be removed.
Firemen say the fire behind the Rent-a-Center was hot enough to scorch the paint on the rear of the building and to burn one board in the roof line of the store.
The fire call came in around 3:30 on Thursday afternoon.
Centralia City Firemen were called Friday night to a car fire at the Leslie Hodge home in the 700 block of North Sycamore. Hodge had most of the fire in the engine compartment knocked down after pouring water on it. Firefighters made sure the fire was completely out upon their arrival around 8:30 Friday evening.
