Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 7 has announced a 36-year-old Ruma, IL man has been charged in connection with an August 8th bicycle-motor vehicle crash in Washington County.
Corey A. Minemann has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (Class 2 Felony) and Reckless Homicide (Class 3 Felony).
The bicyclist, 73-year-old Randy Love, received fatal injuries in the crash on the Oakdale Blacktop and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Washington County Coroner’s office.
Illinois State Troopers were requested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to handle the crash.
ISP DCI agents followed up, leading to an investigation connecting Minemann to the incident.
On February 5, 2024, a warrant was issued by a Washington County judge for Minemann’s arrest and he was taken into custody by ISP on February 6 in Randolph County. Minemann is currently being held in the Randolph County Jail on the above charges awaiting a detention hearing.
At the time of the crash Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger it appeared Love was riding her bike westbound on the Oakdale Blacktop when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.
