The Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force has released additional details about the weekend arrest of a 46-year-old Salem man on three Class Three felony charges of unlawful delivery of cannabis.

George Shoots of South Broadway was taken into custody without incident by Salem Police when spotted at a convenience store on Friday evening.  He was taken to the Marion County Jail on the no bond warrant until appearing before a judge Monday afternoon.

The drug task force reports some of the illicit narcotics sales took place while Shoots was employed at a local Tobacco and Vape business last year.

The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force is comprised of the Salem, Mt. Carmel, and Robinson Police Departments, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office as well as State Police.

The investigation was a cooperative effort among the area police departments in an effort to curb drug usage and violence in the area.
