PHOENIX (AP) — College basketball road games have always been difficult to win. The home team players are in a comfortable place, have their fans cheering wildly on their side and have the incentive of not wanting to lose on their own court. Winning on the road has become more difficult this season. Through Thursday’s games, AP Top 25 teams had a winning percentage of .554 against unranked road opponents, according to Sportradar. That’s the lowest since at least 2009-10. Top-10 teams have had the worst of it on the road, going 25-29 against unranked road opponents.

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) — Northwestern coach Chris Collins has been handed a $5,000 fine and public reprimand from the Big Ten for violating the league’s sportsmanship policy at the end of the Wildcats’ overtime loss to No. 2 Purdue. Collins was ejected with 1.7 seconds remaining in Purdue’s 105-96 victory on Wednesday night. The ejection came after he walked onto the court and yelled at an official with the ball still in played. A Northwestern player restrained Collins and led him to the bench. Purdue had a 46-8 edge over Northwestern in free-throw attempts that night.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has promoted Kirk Campbell to offensive coordinator and Grant Newsome to offensive line coach on a new staff headed by Sherrone Moore following Jim Harbaugh’s departure. Campbell had worked as quarterbacks coach and Newsome had coached tight ends during Michigan’s 2023 national championship season. The school also promoted J.B. Brown to special teams coordinator from analyst. The moves come a week after Moore was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach. Moore took over after Harbaugh received a five-year deal to coach the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Trailing by two points with three seconds left, Dale Bonner intentionally missed the second of two free throws, but neither team could corral the loose ball before time ran out and Iowa held on to beat Ohio State 79-77. Iowa now has won four of its last six against Ohio State. The Buckeyes lost their fourth straight game and now have dropped seven of their last eight.

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — The Senior Bowl quarterbacks are a well-traveled group, most of whom have moved from one Power Five program to another. Led by Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. and Oregon’s Bo Nix, all seven have spent this week leading up to Saturday’s Senior Bowl trying to enhance their next landing spot. The game will culminate a week of scrutiny from NFL coaches, scouts and executives on the field and in the meeting rooms. And a week of trying to stand out from the crowd.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The NCAA generated nearly $1.3 billion in revenue for the 2022-23 fiscal year, and more than half of that was distributed back to Division I members. That’s according to financial statements released by the association. NCAA revenues rose from about $1.14 billion in the previous fiscal year to $1.28 billion. As usual, the bulk of the NCAA’s revenue — $945 million — came from media rights and marketing deals tied to championship events. Roughly 69% of the money came from the men’s basketball tournament. The NCAA’s expenses reached $1.17 billion, which includes $669 million distributed to the more than 363 Division I member schools.
