South Central graduate Spencer Patton was inducted into the SIU-E Athletics 2024 Hall of Fame Class in ceremonies held on Friday night.  Patton played 3 seasons of collegiate baseball for SIU from 2009-2011 and is 3rd all time in wins (13) and ERA (4.01) in SIUE’s D1 baseball era.  He is 3rd overall in strikeouts per nine innings (10.48).  Patton is one of only six players ever at SIU to rack up at least 200 strikeouts in a career, ranking 6th with 201.  His 109 k’s in 2011 are the most in a single D1 season and Rank #2 in any season at SIUE.  He won the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove following the 2011 season.

In 2014, Patton became just the 5th former Cougar to appear in a MLB game when he debuted with the Texas Rangers.  He has made 113 Major League appearances in his career, also appearing for the Cubs and A’s.  Patton was a member of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs and also pitched 4 seasons in Nippon Professional Baseball for the Yokohama Bay Stars.
