The former Jiffy South factory on East Main Street behind the Salem American Legion is being converted into a large indoor storage facility.
Complete Storage based in Carmi has purchased the building and has brought in 90 separate indoor storage units that have been installed inside the large building. The facility that last housed the Purple Elephant is expected to open in early February. The Salem facility will be the eleventh for the company.

The operations manager at Complete Storage Holly Shepherd say try to provide a secure, clean space for people to store their belongings. She notes with the Centralia units being full, the Salem units could serve an area bigger than the city.
