WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Lance Jones scored a season-high 24 points and Zach Edey added 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 2 Purdue to a 99-67 rout of Michigan on Tuesday night. Jones, a fifth-year transfer from Southern Illinois, sank 5-of-9 3-point shots for the Boilermakers, who won their fourth straight game. Purdue’s Braden Smith contributed 11 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Jaelin Llewellyn led Michigan with 16 points. Terrance Williams II and George Washington III each scored 10 points. The Wolverines connected on just 34% of its shots.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Tyler Wahl had 16 points and hit two free throws with 5 seconds left to help No. 13 Wisconsin beat rival Minnesota 61-59. A.J. Storr had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Big Ten-leading Badgers. Max Klesmit scored 11 points and had a key late steal as Wisconsin improved to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the conference. The Badgers have beaten the Gophers seven straight times. Minnesota is 12-7 and 3-5. Elijah Hawkins had 16 points, nine assists, five rebounds and two steals to lead the Gophers.
SEATTLE (AP) — Quarterback Will Rogers says he is staying at Washington after entering the transfer portal following the coaching change within the Huskies program. Rogers posted “Bow Down,” on social media in reference to the school’s fight song. He also told ESPN of his intent to stay with the Huskies and new coach Jedd Fisch. Rogers entered the transfer portal for a second time after coach Kalen DeBoer left to take the head job at Alabama. Rogers was on the Washington sideline for the championship game after announcing his decision to leave Mississippi State. He is likely to be the Huskies presumptive starter going into next season.
UNDATED (AP) — Cotie McMahon of Ohio State is The Associated Press national player of the week in women’s college basketball. She scored a career-high 33 points and added 12 rebounds to help the Buckeyes beat No. 2 Iowa in overtime. The win was Ohio State’s third over a ranked opponent and gave the Hawkeyes their first loss in the Big Ten. The runner-up was Kiki Iriafen of Stanford.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Rienk Mast scored 21 of his career-high 34 points in the second half to help Nebraska beat Ohio State 83-69. Nebraska (15-5, 5-4 Big Ten) is off to its best 20-game start since the 1990-91 team opened with an 18-2 record. The Cornhuskers are 13-1 at Pinnacle Bank Arena this season, the most wins since 2018-19. The Buckeyes had won five of their last six games in Lincoln. Mast matched his season high of 20 points on a 3-pointer with 12:08 remaining to give Nebraska a 57-47 lead. The Cornhuskers led by double figures the remainder. Nebraska led by as many as 18 points, the final time coming on a 3-pointer by C.J. Wilcher with 5:30 left. Wilcher finished with four 3-pointers and 16 points.
UNDATED (AP) — The visual of one of the nation’s most popular athletes knocked to the floor after a fan who was staring at her phone collided with her while storming the court was a stark reminder of the dangers athletes face when crowds get out of control. Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark was shaken up but not injured in the collision, which occurred Sunday as she headed toward the locker room with teammates following a 100-92 loss to then-No. 18 Ohio State in Columbus. It was the second time in less than two weeks that fans have stormed the court at the end of a Big Ten game.
