Little Illini: The Little Illini Conference Tournament opened on Saturday. Olney was an easy winner over Paris 56-20, Casey beat Mt Carmel 47-43, Lawrenceville over Robinson 61-43 and Newton beat Marshall 63-41. The consolation semifinals will be held Monday.
NTC: Monday is also the play-in game in the National Trail Tournament with CHBC taking on Neoga.
MTC: At the MTC Tournament, Weber upset top seed Waltonville in the finals 58-51, Woodlawn beat Grayville 50-48 for third place and in the consolation finals it was Wayne City beating Cisne 63-57.
Benton: The Benton Rangers won the Benton Invitational with a win over Pinckneyville in the finals 53-45. It’s the 2nd win over the Panthers in a tournament title game in the past month beating them at the Duster Thomas in December. Herrin was 3rd over Meridian 64-42, Carterville nipped Vandalia in the consolation game 48-46 and Hamilton County hit a shot beyond half court as time expired to beat Sesser Valier 55-52 to open the day.
Nashville: Top ranked 2a Breese Central won their 12th straight game in capturing the Nashville Invitational Title for the 2nd time in 3 years beating Kipp Academy 65-32. Central improves to 21-2 on the year. Mater Dei beat Marion in the 3rd place game 54-51, Mascoutah dropped the consolation game to Nashville 50-49 and Gateway Legacy won the 7th place game beating Metro East Lutheran 52-36.
The All Tournament Team was comprised of Colton Arnold, Zane Schrage and Mason Shubert of Breese Central, Drake Wagner of Mater Dei, Corey Harris and Jayden McCoo of Mascoutah, Phoenix Hatchet and Ethan Simmons of Marion, Jaivaughn Jones of Kipp and Maddox Ritzel of Nashville.
Okawville: Columbia is flying high after winning the Okawville Invitational beating Highland in the finals 41-32. Wesclin beat Carlyle in the 3rd place game 56-38, Gibault over Christ Our Rock in the consolation game 53-50 and Okawville won the 7th place game over Madison 75-72.
The All Tournament team went to Matthew Guthrie of Carlyle, Gavin Kessler of Gibault, Seth Macke and Chandler Mueller of Wesclin, Sam Donald and Hayes Van Breusegan of Columbia, Jayden Bazile of Christ Our Rock, Jake Ottensmeier and Garrin Stone of Highland and Aidan Anderson of Okawville. Columbia’s Logan Bosch was given the Dave Leuchtefeld Defense Award.
Sparta: Freeburg was the champion at the Sparta Mid Winter Tournament beating Murphysboro 53-49. Red Bud defeated Sparta in the 3rd place game 59-56 and Waterloo was 5th over Steeleville 62-53.
Litchfield: At the Litchfield Invitational, Triad won the title beating Civic Memorial 53-37. Marquette over Mattoon for 3rd 56-46. Roxana took 5th place beating Greenville 58-48. Litchfield beat Nokomis 47-26 in the 7th place game. Taylorville won the 9th place game over Hillsboro 75-62 and it was Pana over Father McGivney in the 11th place game 65-60.
Superman: At the Superman Classic in Metropolis, Massac County won the title over Vienna 77-63 and Goreville took 3rd over Charleston 81-55.
