The Salem Lady Wildcats knocked off Centralia in the 3rd place game of the Vandalia Mid-Winter Tournament on Saturday 44-42. Emma Gregg led Salem with 15, Josiayah Wallace had 14 for the Annies. The two teams will face off again tonight at Trout Arena.
The Salem JV lost the 7th place game to Vandalia, but it was a great learning experience for the girls according to Coach Dave Lever.
Also at Vandalia, Effingham beat Greenville in the championship, and in doing so junior Bella Austin scored her 1000th career point.
St Anthony beat Altamont in a battle of state ranked teams to win the NTC Girls title 69-60. In the win, Stacie Vonderheide scored 26 and Nancy Ruholl added 25. Grace Nelson hit 6 three pointers on her way to a game high 32 for Altamont.
South Central dropped the 7th place game to Windsor/Stew-Stras 57-41. Taegan Webster finished with 8 and was named to the All Tournament Team. The Lady Cougars are 11-13 and will travel to conference tournament champion St Anthony tonight.
