The Salem Invitational continues tonight with Championship Semifinals and its going to be a big night for sure. The opening game will feature the Salem Wildcats who enter at 8-13 overall but coming off an impressive blowout win over Champaign Central in Wednesday’s opener. They will take on the tournament’s top seed 20-1 Centralia after they dismantled Effingham to open the tournament hitting a tournament record 16 three’s in the process including 6 from freshman Michael Organ who led everybody with 22 points. Game time tonight at 6pm on WJBD.
The 2nd game tonight will feature East St Louis and Davis Bynum taking on Navontae Nesbit and the Mount Vernon Rams. The Flyers advanced with an easy 82-51 win in last night’s opener over Carbondale. Bynum finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Robert McCline came off the bench to hit 5 three pointers and finished with 19. Taylor Powell finished with 14. DeCarl Payne led the Terriers with 16.
Mount Vernon survived Charleston 43-41 as the Trojans had a 3 with 4 seconds left go all the way down and spin back out that would have given them the lead.
