A 19-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to four years probation after pleading guilty earlier to six of ten counts of child pornography pending against him.
Brent Morris of East Calumet was given credit for 255 days served in the Marion County and ordered to have no internet capable devices as well as undergo a sex offender evaluation.
Morris’ mother and aunt testified at the sentencing hearing on plans they had if Morris was released on probation. There were also 13 letters of support that were submitted on behalf of Morris.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bobby Wallace testified for the prosecution on the investigation and the 128 pornographic photos and 85 videos that were found when a search warrant was executed on Morris’ phone and electronic equipment.
Morris earlier admitted to six charges of having video recordings of children 13 or younger committing lewd or sexual acts on his electronic devices. The four charges that were dropped during the earlier negotiated plea alleged dissemination of child pornography videos via Snapchat. Those charges would have required a consecutive sentence on each count.
