The Salem Lady Wildcats opened up the Vandalia Mid Winter Tournament with a win over Mascoutah 45-31. Emma Gregg led Salem with 14 and Kayla Felgenhauer added 10 and 9 from Jordan Kessler. The Lady Cats will take on Effingham tomorrow at 6pm in the first semifinal.
The Salem JV opened up the tournament place in replacement of Madison, who had to drop out. Salem JV lost in the opening round to top-seed Effingham 66-20. Addi Lever had 12 to lead Salem and Jaelyn Keller had the other 8. The Lady Cats JV will play Thursday in the consolation semifinal against Mascoutah.
The Centralia Annies opened the Vandalia Tournament as the 2-seed and beat Vandalia 50-15. They advance to play in the 2nd semifinal on Wednesday against Greenville who knocked off Wesclin in their first round game. Those 2 losers, Vandalia and Wesclin, play on Thursday.
The SC Lady Cougars opened the National Trail Conference Tournament with a win over CHBC 61-47. Taegan Webster and Kaitlyn Swift each had 20 for SC. The game tonight at Beecher City with SC against Altamont is still scheduled to begin at 6pm.
