The Salem Lady Wildcats evened their record at 11-11 on the year and fell a game under .500 in the Cahokia at 2-3 with a 56-12 road loss at top-ranked Breese Central. Salem’s offense only made 3 field goals all game, led by Natalie Lee’s six points. Kaydence Schroeder had the hot hand for the Lady Cougars as she scored 21 through three quarters including 4 made three’s. Central made 9 of their first 14 three point attempts in the game.
Adalyn Morris had 17 and Ella Nettemeier 16 as the Central JV won 58-28. Salem got 11 from Allie Hustedde and 7 from Addison Lever.
Salem will return to action on Monday at the Vandalia Tournament. The Salem JV will take on top-seed Effingham at 10am followed by 4th seed the Salem Varsity against #5 Mascoutah at 11:30. At 1 it’s 3rd seed Greenville against #6 Wesclin followed by 2nd seed Centralia and 7th seed Vandalia at 2:30.
The championship semifinals will be held on Wednesday, the consolation semifinals are Thursday with the trophy games on Saturday.
In other prep girls action last night, 2000 point scorer Grace Nelson poured in 31 points to lead state ranked Altamont to a nice NTC win over Brownstown/St Elmo 67-54.
